Buying Paint is relatively inexpensive!
by: Elizabeth Elwell-Cook

I find that a 4L can of matte or satin acrylic paint will do the walls of a 3x3m room.

You'll then need to paint trims and doors with another 1L of Gloss (which might be acrylic, or enamel, depending on what was already on there if you're renovating).

I find that 4L these days will cost between $40-$60 from regular hardware stores like Bunnings.

A 1L can is more expensive, at around $25, so it may be a good idea getting 4L, and doing the trims in a few more rooms.

If you're making renovating investment properties a regular thing, make sure you ask for a trade discount, and supply your ABN.

And remember that it's sometimes worth shopping around to see if there are any trade suppliers (eg Wattyl sells direct to the public) or small, family-owned hardware shops that charge less than the big guys.
