If i built a new house.. got the 21,000 and im livin in the house.. can i rent out a room to sumone or its that not allowed untill the 6months is up..

Dear Geoff,

Thanks for your question. My understanding of this is that you cannot rent out a room to a tenant and claim for it during the 6 months (out of the first 12) that you are using for the First Home Owners Grant.

I would suggest that you ask Western Australia's equivalent of the Office of State Revenue (OSR) about their feelings on the matter. This can vary from state to state.
